Romeo y Julieta dates to 1875 in Cuba. The non-Cuban version (the one sold in the US) has been produced in the Dominican Republic since the 1980s by Altadis. The brand built international fame with stories of Winston Churchill — the size and the smoker — and remains one of the most recognized cigar names worldwide.
