Montecristo dates to 1935 in Havana. The brand split in the 1960s after the Cuban embargo — the non-Cuban version, made in the Dominican Republic, is the one US smokers know. Altadis produces several modern interpretations of the classic, including collaborations with the Garcia family at My Father.
