Texas entrepreneur Al Micallef launched the brand in 2016 with the Gómez Sánchez family, three generations deep in Nicaraguan tobacco. Every Micallef is rolled at the family's factory in Estelí. In 2020 the company pulled its cigars from big online retailers, and the whole portfolio is now sold only through locally owned shops.
